I Need a Vacation

Derek and I needed a vacation. We used our time-share to get a condo at Eagle Crest in Redmond, OR. We were only a few days into our vacation when we realized that what we needed our vacation from was there with us- Bridger and Lilly. We adore our kids, but we have never had a night alone in over 4 years!

So I spent the week in the condo watching HGTV with Lilly (It was great for about 2 days). Derek spent the week in about a foot and a half of water- a.k.a. the kiddie pool.

By day five we had had enough. So we put Lilly in her carseat in the corner of the racquetball court, with Bridger and a racket to defend her from any flying balls that came their way. Derek and I played racquetball and had a great time while it lasted. We felt only slightly guilty that both of our kids were cowering in the corner :)

Eagle Crest was great. There was a lot of things to do there. We did actually get to do a few other things than what was mentioned above. Derek and Bridger rented a bike and had a great time. Throughout the resort their were sports centers with swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, racquetball, tennis courts, game room, weight rooms etc. We had a lot of fun playing ping-pong, video games and racquetball. Once Bridger discovered racquetball he left Derek alone about going swimming 3 times a day.

We had a hot tub on our deck. It overlooked a beautiful river. So after the kids went to bed we got to enjoy a few relaxing minutes together and remember why we are doing this.

That is crazy that you two have not had a night alone in 4 years! There must be someone that would stay the night (or weekend) with your kids.

Looks like fun. The last night we had alone was my birthday May of 2006 when Wade's company was trying to get us to move up here originally. That was the first time I think I ever left Owen (he was one and a half). Sad, sad, sad.

Someday you'll get away from the kids, and then you'll just wish they were around again!

Scott searched his name on Facebook and came up with a half-naked blond sporting a mullet. Strange to think that other's out there with your name exist...mine runs marathons in Salt Lake...definitely not me!
